Privacy policy

1. Controller

Jean Paul Poutchoko Nguekam (ShineNows), Gewerbeschulstr. 34, 67549 Worms, Germany, contact@shineevent.shinenows.com, +49 157 38306056.

2. What data we process

When an event is published, we process the details entered by the organiser: e-mail address, public name, the event’s contact details, and the location, date and description. This information is shown publicly on the event page, except for the e-mail address, which is used only for signing in and for notifications.

Signing in is done through a link sent by e-mail or, if you set one, with a password. Your password is never known to us in clear text.

If you report an event, we store the reason for the report and — only if you provide it — your e-mail address, solely so that we can reply to you. Decisions taken on reported content are recorded (Art. 17 of the EU Digital Services Act).

3. Audience measurement without cookies

When an event page is visited, we count views and clicks anonymously. No data that would allow you to be recognised from one visit to the next is stored. No cookies are set for this measurement and no consent banner is required.

On your device we only keep what a feature you asked for needs: your language and theme choice (cookies “shineevent_locale” and “shineevent_theme”, one year, only if you change that setting), your sign-in (in your browser’s storage, until you sign out) and the “I’m interested” mark, so that the same event is not counted twice. This storage is technically necessary and requires no consent (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

In order to know which regions our events are searched from, we assign a country and a city to each view. The IP address is not stored and is not passed on to third parties. The city obtained is the location of the network access — on mobile often the location of the operator — and allows no inference about you personally or about your exact address. This assignment is based on the DB-IP Lite database (licence CC BY 4.0).

4. Processor — Brevo

For sending e-mails (sign-in link, confirmations) we use the service Brevo SAS (France).

5. No special categories of personal data

ShineEvent collects no data under Art. 9 GDPR (e.g. health data, religious affiliation, ethnic origin). Information about events (for example “church service”) is general event information, not information about a person.

6. Mobile app (Android)

The account. With an account you hear that a saved event has been cancelled or moved, even with the app closed, you can follow organisers, and you find your events again on another device. An e-mail address is enough; a password is optional. The events you save and the organisers you follow are then stored with your account.

Without an account. The app remains usable: searching, filtering, saving an event and the day-before reminder. Only the alert when something is cancelled or changed, following an organiser, and finding your events again on another device require an account. Without an account, saved events and your language choice stay on your device.

Notifications. The day-before reminder is triggered by your device and needs no account. Once you are signed in, a technical identifier of your device is stored so that we can send you these alerts; they never contain personal data. You can delete this identifier at any time by signing out in the app.

Location. Your location is requested only when you tap “Near me”, and only approximately. Distances are computed on your device: your location is not transmitted to us and is not stored.

Map view. Your IP address is not passed on to the map provider.

Audience measurement. As on the website, views are counted anonymously (see section 3).

The app contains no advertising and no trackers.

7. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to the processing of your personal data (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Please contact contact@shineevent.shinenows.com for this. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

8. Retention period

Event data is stored for as long as the event page remains online, or until the organiser requests its deletion. E-mail addresses used for authentication are stored only for as long as is necessary to manage the account.
